Description
This shield shaped pendant is decorated with three heraldic lions. It is a replica of a medieval pendant that would have been gilded and enameled. These pendants were worn on the harnesses of horses as decoration.
In the Middle Ages, great war horses were specially bred to meet the requirements of warfare and chivalry and the needs of the mounted knight called destriers. These horses were useful because their weight gave greater force to the impact of the knight's lance.
This Heraldic Lion Pendant is made from lead-free pewter and is supplied on a waxed cord. The information card is full colour on the front and has historical information on the reverse.
