"Sageo" is the Japanese word for the braid used in the construction of Japanese sword/knife sheaths. It is essentially a flat rope. It is thicker and chunkier that its counterpart "ito"
You could use it for any desired purpose, not just handle binding.
Our ito here is a quality synthetic ito. Or natural silk.
