Description

This Viking Age sword, classified as a “Type S” by archaeologist Jan Petersen, harks back to the 10th century—a period often referred to as the Viking heyday. Though Petersen developed this classification system in the early 20th century, the style of this sword is over a thousand years old, deeply rooted in Norse culture and warfare.

The blade is forged from tempered 1080AISI high carbon steel, offering an ideal balance of hardness and durability for both cutting and thrusting. Its broad, straight shape with a shallow fuller ensures strength and agility in combat. The steel cross-guard provides simple yet effective hand protection, while the lobed pommel enhances balance and reflects traditional Viking craftsmanship.

This sword also includes a leather-bound sheath with a matching belt, allowing it to be worn at your side, ready for action or display. A perfect blend of historical design and functionality.

These stunning swords from Erik Steelcrafts come with ~1mm edges—refined but not fully sharpened. For those interested in a fully sharpened version for tameshigiri-style target cutting, we offer sharpening services upon request at Superior Swords.
